2021 Kia Sorento

The Kia family has no shortage of SUVs. There’s the well-received Telluride and the beloved Sportage, among others that are considered crossovers or compact SUV types. And then there’s Sorento. Sorento is the SUV you get when you want all the passenger space of a bigger three-row SUV and the footprint of something closer to a midsize two-row SUV. And at first glance, you might even think it’s a Telluride. I’m going to guess, after comparing the Kia Sorento to the Telluride, you want to browse 2021 Kia Sorentos now. I’m ready to trade-up shortly. It’s an awesome ride!
The reimagined 2021 Kia Sorento is an SUV for almost anyone, especially when you consider the options for engine size and fuel sources available currently and planned for the near future. Everything you expect from a Kia SUV but so much more.
A Fuel Efficient Three-Row SUV?
Yes. The rumors are true. The redesigned Kia Sorento brings with it not only a sleek, animalistic look, but a chance for some serious fuel economy. Available in configurations with both front wheel drive and all-wheel drive, the 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engines have some serious power and fuel economy. But if that’s not enough, there’s also a turbo hybrid available in 2021 that’s slathering some serious sexy on fuel mileage. Check out the specs on this year’s engines:
- 2.5-liter GDI. Look for an EPA estimated 26 miles per gallon combined city/highway fuel usage and 191 horsepower when the 2.5-liter GDI meets Kia’s eight-speed automatic transmission.
- 2.5-liter turbo. Turbocharging used to be about speed, but in the Kia Sorento, it can also be about raw, unadulterated power. This engine can deal out 281 horsepower and 311 foot-pounds of torque while paired with the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
- 1.6-liter turbo hybrid. For EV fans, the 1.6-liter turbo hybrid is the talk of the town. With a total range of 620 miles (estimated), the ability to produce 258 foot-pounds of torque, and an EPA estimated 37 miles per gallon combined city/highway, no one will ever call the green choice a weak move.
The rumblings are that 2022 will also bring Sorento a plug-in hybrid option, giving green SUV lovers even more options. Ask your Kia dealership about the plug-in if you’ve had your heart set on a truly electrifying adventure.
Ruggedly Handsome (and Well-Appointed!)
The 2021 Kia Sorento is a outdoors type dressed up in formal wear, perfectly ready for anywhere life might take you. The interior is roomy, has plenty of room for gear or groceries, and plenty of premium features that include:
Big touch screen navigation. Forget those tiny navigation screens, what you want is more maps, more infotainment, and more interaction. You get it all with the 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation and UVO link on board. Apple CarPlay and Android Audio make it even easier to connect your phone to make that screen do even more for you.
Bose Centerpoint premium audio. Sure, some vehicles have six or eight speakers to create a lot of sound for all kinds of environments but having 12 speakers is even better. When your car will hold seven passengers, there’s no reason anyone should ask you to turn the radio up.
Durable leather seating. Leather seat trim means the parts of your seat that take the hardest pounding are protected for years and years. Soft textures, high quality stitching and a cozy texture work together for a better ride and durability.
Smart Power Liftgate. When you’re loaded down with groceries or camping supplies, it would be really nice to have an extra arm to open the liftgate. Good news! There’s no reason for invasive and expensive surgery with the Smart Power Liftgate on the Kia Sorento. When it detects your Smart Key, it’ll open itself, giving you complete access to the dual level cargo floor.
Kia Drive Wise Technology. Kia Drive Wise technology is meant to make your driving experience safer than ever. In your Kia Sorento, you’ll have access to tools like:
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go
- Blind Spot Assistance
- 360 Degree Surround View Monitor
- Rear Occupant Alert
- Parking Collision Avoidance
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assistance
- Safe Exit Assist
Outside is just as useful and beautiful, with lots of optional gear for any sort of adventure, from available roof rails, to accessories for them that include more ways to stash like bike racks and rooftop cargo boxes. This is a vehicle that can really haul… your stuff.
Pack It All, Anywhere You Want to Go!
The redesigned Kia Sorento is more SUV than anyone really expected. More places to stash stuff, more room for more comfortable rides, more power, more efficient fuel usage, and more style than should be legal on the road. You may need to take it on a test drive to believe all of this can be packed in one vehicle, but once you do, be ready to take it home.
