Kia Sorento Remote Start Purchasing Guide

If you don’t have a remote start for your Kia Sorento, here is everything you need to know to purchase a remote start.

There is nothing like a remote start for a vehicle. If you’ve lived in a cold climate, you can relate to sitting in a freezing car shivering while your car warms up. And if you are like me, you may believe your new vehicle doesn’t need warming up see here

What I’ve learned in my remote start research is purchasing and installing an aftermarket remote start can negate your Kia Warranty. If you bought your vehicle from Lawrence Kia, it would negate your Kia Lifetime Warranty. This post will only cover Genuine Kia Parts.

The first thing to know is there are two type of remote starts for the Kia Sorento; one for a key start model and one for the push button start model. Installation for these parts at Lawrence Kia is $110. If you are not using Lawrence Kia, please shop around for a reasonable price. I’ve seen install prices range from $110-$1,000. When using another company to install your remote start make sure this person is an ASE Certified Technician. Using a certified ASE Technician is required to keep your warranty.

Hi Edwin! When using the remote start. You press the remote start button twice the first light with flash blue. Then press and hold for 2 to 3 seconds and the third light with flash showing it got signal and should start. If there is still an issue feel free to run by and see one of our advisors in the service department or give us a call at (785) 856-8700.

Is there a way to extend the duration of the idle when you use remote start? I found that the 10 minutes it runs for, before shutting off automatically, is not long enough to get the engine warm or defrost/de ice the windows. When I looked online, it started that you could just restart the remote start again. This is an annoying option due to the fact that the car honks loudly every time the remote start ends.
