Replacing Your Key FOB Battery
Replacing The Key Fob Battery in a Kia
Is your key not working anymore? You may need to replace your battery. I never knew how easy it was to replace a key fob battery, but trust me if I can do it so can you. I am going to go step by step with pictures (because who doesn’t love them) and instructions to replace your key fob battery.
Whether you have this key fob or a similar looking key fob you will follow the same steps.
Step 1: Remove the key from the fob.
When removing the key from the fob, you need to press down on the small button on the back of the fob and pull the key out. You do not need to do this step if your key is not inside of the fob.
Step 2: Prepare to Open Key Fob
Look at the top of the key fob and find a flat head screwdriver that will fit inside of the hole.
Step 3: Open Key Fob
Put the flat head inside the hole and turn it allowing the fob to pop open.
Step 4: Replace the Battery
After opening up the fob, pull it apart and replace the battery. All you need is a key transmitter battery also known as a 3v watch battery. Pop the old one out and put the new one in. Make sure to put the new battery in the same way as the old battery.
Step 5: Put the Fob Back Together
All there is left to do is close the fob back up. Make sure to align the sides correctly and press tightly until you hear it click back into place.
Step 6: Reinsert the Key
Reinsert the key back inside of the fob.
Step 7: Completed Process
Now you have completed replacing the key fob battery.
